Are you passionate about children's development and the importance of free play ?
Moss Hall Play Centre works closely with Moss Hall Schools Federation, but it is a separate charity and is looked after by a board of trustees. The current board has 4 members, and we’d love to get a couple more.
The board meets about once every half term. At the trustee meetings, we get a report from the Playcentre Manager and the Office Manager on what’s been happening at the play centre, provide some operational guidance, where necessary, and also make longer term strategic decisions about the play centre, for example: What should our pricing policy be? How can the play centre best meet its charitable objectives?
Some roles on the trustee board require some additional administrative work, but we’d welcome people even if they are only able to attend meetings. You do not need any previous board or charity experience! The most important thing is a willingness to think carefully about the play centre and its future.
Position: Trustees , see testimonials below
Salary: Voluntary (reasonable expenses reimbursed)
Location: North Finchley, London N12
Time Commitment: The Board currently meets 3-4 times a year, face-to-face
Closing Date: 18th April 2025
Interviews: Will take place in the weeks beginning 21st April 2025.

About You
We are looking for individuals with:
"I've worked in the charity sector for many years, but being in this side of the trustees table has been incredibly insightful, and given me a new perspective on my day job."
"I'm really glad that I've found a way to give to the Moss Hall community in a way that makes the most of my skills and experience that I have and that I really enjoy."
"I wasn't sure whether I would be the right kind of person to be a trustee, but now I realise that the most important attribute is to care about what Playcentre provides for Moss Hall children and want to give something back."
"Being a trustee has given me the experience I needed to successfully apply for a new job in the charitable sector!"
Melissa
The opportunity to become a Trustee of the Moss Hall Playcentre has allowed me to give something back and support what is a fantastic set up and resource for after school care.
As a working parent it has allowed me to continue to work whilst knowing my children are in a safe and fun environment, so I fully appreciate what a great job the playcentre has done over the years. Volunteering and helping with the running of the playcentre has been rewarding and
I have been happy to contribute to the continued and ongoing success of the playcentre.
I have been able to use my existing skills and financial background to help with decision making and forward planning, but I have also learnt new skills about running a charity and playcentre.
I have been able to add this role to my CV and use the experiences gained to seek new roles. Ultimately I am happy and proud to have been involved and held a position of a trustee for the last few years.
